The excellence of the Minster Local School System is evidenced by its designation as an Ohio Department of Education “Excellent with Distinction” school for the 2010-2011 school year. The school consistently continues to meet all 26 state indicators and had an overall performance index of 109.8 out of 120 total points for the 2010-2011 school year. The district also met the expected yearly adequate progress goals and experienced above average growth in several value-added factors tracked by the Ohio Department of Education. Numerous opportunities exist in the immediate area for higher education. The Wright State University Lake Campus is located nearby on the north shore of Grand Lake St. Mary's. There is a branch campus of The Ohio State University in Lima, only 45 minutes to the north. Edison Community College is located only 20 minutes to the south in Piqua. A number of technical and vocational schools are within one hour driving distance of Minster.

Workers in advanced manufacturing can gain a competitive edge thanks to the SkillsTrac Training Consortium. This partnership links Wright State's Lake Campus, Edison Community College, Sinclair Community College, and Upper Valley Joint Vocational School with industry partners to help workers acquire new skills. Multiple locations, along with a web-based curriculum, make the SkillsTrac program convenient for workers.
