Rich Prenger appointed as Minster-Jackson Township Fire Chief

Rich joined the fire department as a fire fighter in 1987.  Since the early 1990s he has held the line officer positions of 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant, Platoon Chief, and Captain.  For the past several years he has held the position of Assistant Chief, taking the command of incidents when the chief was unavailable to respond.  During his years as a line officer, Rich was an instrumental force behind providing training for our fire department members and purchasing up to date equipment that allows the fire department to effectively respond to emergencies in our community.

Rich is a proponent of fire prevention.  He has participated in the annual school fire safety day, with many years as the kindergarten instructor.  To further enhance fire safety in our community, Rich also volunteers in the fire department’s fire safety trailer when it is featured at community events.

With the retirement of Chief Dale Dues in early March, Rich has taken on the responsibilities of chief’s position.
