Minster to Celebrate Public Power Week

The Minster Electric Department will be celebrating Public Power Week, Oct. 7-13th, along with more than 2,000 other electric utilities that collectively provide electricity on a not-for-profit basis to 45 million Americans. This year will mark Public Power Week's 26th anniversary as a country-wide program to celebrate the importance of public power to local citizens and other key public officials, including state and national officials.
“Public Power Week is an annual event that celebrates the benefits of publicly owned electric utilities," said John Neuman, Minster Utilities superintendent. "Our electric utility operates to benefit the entire community, as well as to provide safe, reliable power and high-quality customer services, all at low rates. We hope that our customers will celebrate with us and appreciate the benefits that public power brings to them."
The celebration will be kicked off again this year during the Oktoberfest. The electrical department will once again have a booth at the south park featuring electrical information along with information relating to the benefits of public power.  Two lucky children will have the opportunity to win a new bicycle. Be sure to stop by the booth to sign up for a chance to win! In addition, the electrical department will showcase one of their bucket trucks in the Sunday parade.
Public Power is an American tradition that works!
